How do I import data from Things?

On Mac, 2Do imports directly from Things. If Things is installed, choose File > Import > From Things… and 2Do reads your local Things database directly (read-only, without changing anything in Things) — Areas become List Groups, each Project becomes a list of its own, to-dos become tasks, checklists come across as checklist items, and tags, When/Deadline dates, reminders, and repeating rules all map over. Things doesn't need to be running. Trashed items and headings are skipped, and canceled to-dos arrive as completed tasks. It's a best-effort, one-time copy: once imported, the tasks are ordinary 2Do tasks you're free to rearrange. See Importing and Exporting for the full mapping. (2Do can also import from OmniFocus and from calendar .ics files the same way.)

Why read the database? Things doesn't sync over an open standard such as CalDAV or two-way Apple Reminders (both supported by 2Do), so live sync between the apps isn't possible; a direct read is the reliable way to extract your tasks. Once imported, they stay portable: sync onward over CalDAV or Reminders, or export everything as CSV at any time.

On iPhone and iPad there's no direct Things import. Since Things is Apple-only, the easiest route is through any Mac: install the 2Do for Mac trial, run the import there, set up sync, and your tasks flow down to your iPhone and iPad.
