Why is 2Do Mac on the Mac App Store moving to a subscription?
This note is for customers using 2Do Mac from the Mac App Store.
Starting with the next update, 2Do Mac on the Mac App Store will move to a subscription. Your tasks, lists, and sync settings are unaffected — nothing changes about how your data is stored or synced.
2Do has been around since 2009, and we've shipped free updates for 17 years. To keep the app actively developed and improving, we need a sustainable way to fund ongoing work.
On the Mac App Store, a subscription is the only available path for continued updates — billing and renewals are handled by Apple. It's the one option we have for keeping App Store customers on the latest version, so that's the route we're taking. The subscription is priced at $4.99 / month or $39.99 / year (the yearly plan saves around 33%), and every plan starts with a 14-day free trial so you can try it before any charge is made. You can read more here.
Is 2Do for iPhone and iPad also moving to a subscription?
No. 2Do for iPhone and iPad remains a one-time App Store purchase, with no current plans to change that. The iOS community is significantly larger, and we'd rather keep things steady there. This change applies only to 2Do on the Mac App Store.
What if I purchased 2Do Mac on the App Store very recently?
You may be eligible for a refund directly from Apple. You can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. Refunds for App Store purchases are handled entirely by Apple — if you run into any trouble with the request, feel free to contact us and we'll do our best to help.
