Getting Started with 2Do for Web

2Do for Web brings a familiar Mac-style workspace to your browser. Organize tasks into lists, projects, and checklists, then use dates, tags, and Smart Lists to decide what to do next. Open it on Windows, Linux, a Chromebook, or a Mac without installing a desktop app.

What You Need

  • A current browser with JavaScript, cookies, and site storage enabled. See Browsers and Features.
  • A free Apple Account, with iCloud sync (CloudKit) set up in 2Do on a Mac, iPhone, iPad, or Android device. Let that app sync once before opening the web app. See First Sync.
  • 2Do for Mac with active update coverage or an active Mac App Store or Setapp subscription. Web access is included at no extra charge. See Web Licensing for eligibility.

You can purchase a Mac license from our store if you don't own a Mac. There is no separate Web license, and an iPhone, iPad, or Android purchase alone does not include Web access. See Web Licensing.

You can create a free Apple Account from Android or any browser. Set up iCloud sync in 2Do for Android, then use the same account in 2Do for Web. Android's full-featured trial includes sync, so you can use it for this initial setup.

Mac App Store and Setapp Subscriptions

Before signing in on the web, launch your subscribed copy of 2Do for Mac while online. It grants 30 days of Web access, and each successful check when you launch the Mac app starts a new 30-day period. Launch the Mac app online at least once every 30 days.

If you use a firewall, proxy, VPN, or Little Snitch, allow the Mac app to connect to register.2doapp.com. This checks licensing only and does not send your task content. See Web Licensing for help. Direct-license users can enter their key in the browser without launching a Mac app.

  1. Open 2Do for Web from the 2Do for Web page.
  2. Choose Sign in to iCloud. Use the Apple Account you use for iCloud sync in 2Do and complete Apple's sign-in steps.
  3. Follow the account screen to confirm your 2Do for Mac access. For a direct purchase, enter your 2Do for Mac license key when asked and choose Continue.
  4. Choose Open 2Do when your account is ready. Leave the page open while the first sync finishes.

Sign in on Apple's page with your normal Apple Account password, or another sign-in option Apple offers. Do not use an app-specific password. You authenticate directly with Apple; your Apple Account password is not shared with 2Do.

Keep me signed in remembers your Apple sign-in in this browser. Leave it off on a shared computer.

If you see Set up iCloud sync in 2Do, follow Set Up Sync before continuing. An account that only uses iCloud CalDAV, Dropbox, or another service will not show those tasks here.

Find Your Way Around

Your lists are on the left, tasks are in the middle, and tags and locations are on the right. Choose a list to see its tasks. Today, All, and your Smart Lists give you other ways to view the same tasks.

Choose New Task to add a task. Double-click an existing task to edit it. Use the More button in the toolbar for commands such as Settings…, Show Completed Tasks, and Manage Account.

Use the Mac Guides

The Mac guides explain the task tools shared with the web app. Start with the topic you need:

Mac-specific menu paths, system permissions, and integrations in those guides apply to the Mac app. In the browser, use the toolbar and More menu. Browser shortcuts and reminders also have some differences.

Sync and Privacy

2Do for Web supports iCloud (CloudKit) only. Use that same sync method and Apple Account on your other devices. Set Up Sync explains how.

Your task database stays in iCloud and in your browser's local storage. We do not host a copy of it. Our Web Privacy Policy explains Apple sign-in, local storage, licensing, and the transfer service used for attachment uploads.
