Settings
2Do for Android keeps its main settings in one place. Open the navigation drawer, tap Settings, then work down the screen in order.
This guide covers the functional settings only. Help, tutorial, review, and About rows are not included here.

Sync
Use Sync to choose how 2Do keeps your tasks in step across devices.

Available methods include:
- Dropbox — recommended when you use 2Do across Android, iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
- CalDAV — iCloud CalDAV, Fruux, Yahoo!, and custom CalDAV servers. On Android this is an optional add-on with a 7-day trial.
- Toodledo — useful if you already use Toodledo's web service.
- No Sync — keep 2Do local to this Android device.
The Sync screen also includes Next Sync Action for deliberate one-time recovery actions. Dropbox and CalDAV offer Sync normally, Replace server data, and Replace data on this device. Toodledo offers Sync normally, Merge local data with server, and Replace data on this device.
Only change Next Sync Action when you are deliberately recovering or moving data. The wrong direction can overwrite good data. Create a backup first from Settings > Manage Backups if you are unsure.
Learn more in Sync Overview.
Default Collection List
This controls where new tasks go when 2Do cannot infer a better destination.

Options include:
- GTD Inbox — use the Inbox as your capture list.
- Last used list — keep new tasks going to the list you last used.
- Always use default list — ignore the current list and always use your chosen default.
- Always use in Quick Add — force Quick Add to use the default list.
If you process tasks later, choose Inbox and keep Always use in Quick Add on. If you usually add tasks directly into the list you are viewing, leave Quick Add free to follow the current context.
Creating a subtask inside Project View still keeps that subtask inside the project you are viewing.
Language
Use Language to choose the app language. 2Do notes that a restart is required before every label refreshes.

Appearance
Appearance controls how task lists are displayed and how much information is shown at a glance.

The main Appearance section includes:
- App Appearance — choose the app theme.
- Display Mode — choose between compressed, normal, and extended task rows.
- Grouped Dates — group sorted task lists under date headings.
- Show overdue in red — make overdue tasks easier to spot.
- More — opens the full Appearance settings.

Appearance > More
The detailed Appearance screen includes:

- Friendly dates — show dates in friendlier wording.
- Markdown editing — enable Markdown shortcuts while editing notes.
- Markdown in note previews — render Markdown in task note previews.
- Today options — include overdue tasks in Today, include starred tasks in Today, and show the Still working on section.
- Sorting options — put starred tasks above high-priority tasks and group dated tasks.
- Search options — inherit search inside projects and decide whether subtasks appear separately.
- Completed Tasks — choose how long completed tasks remain visible and whether that rule applies to subtasks.
- Auto-Delete Completed Tasks — choose when completed tasks are automatically deleted, and whether subtasks get extra time before deletion.
If Include starred tasks in Today is on, Today and badge counts that use Today can include starred tasks even when they are not due today.
Privacy
Privacy contains three main areas:
- Password protect lists — set a password, choose protected lists, control widget/notification access, and choose when the password is required again.
- Hidden lists — keep selected lists out of the navigation drawer.
- Archived lists — keep old lists and their tasks hidden from most app areas while preserving them.
Password Protect Lists
Use Set Password first, then choose Protected lists. Protected lists stay hidden from Focus Lists and Smart Lists until unlocked.

Use Widgets & Notifications to decide whether protected tasks can appear outside the app.
Use Require password to choose when 2Do should ask again: immediately, after 1 minute, after 3 minutes, after 5 minutes, or after 10 minutes.
Learn more in Password Protection.
Notifications
Notifications control task alerts, Sticky Alert, app badge behavior, list counters, and automatic alerts.
The main Notifications section includes:
- Sticky Alert — show today's tasks in the Android notification area.
- Alert Sound — choose the default alert sound.
- Proximity Alerts — manage location-based alerts and Android location permission.
- More — opens the full Notifications settings.
Android notification permission is required for task alerts. Android location permission is required for Proximity Alerts. If either permission is denied in Android system settings, the related 2Do setting cannot work as expected.
Notifications > More
The detailed Notifications screen includes:
- Sticky Alert — show today's tasks in the notification area.
- Hide on Lock Screen — keep Sticky Alert content off the lock screen.
- Precise Alerts — ask Android for more exact alert timing where supported.
- Exact alarm access — open Android's exact-alarm permission flow when required by your Android version.
- Ignore battery optimizations — open Android's battery settings so alerts and sync have a better chance of running on time.
- Alert Sound — choose the default sound.
- Nag Me — repeat task alerts at a chosen interval.
- Vibrate, LED, and Override mute — control alert behavior on supported devices.
- App Badge — choose what the launcher badge counts, where supported by your launcher.

- Snooze Alerts — choose the default snooze behavior.
- Auto-Reminders For — create automatic alerts for tasks that get a due time or due date.
Use Auto-Reminders For if you often forget to add alerts manually. You can set different defaults for due dates and due times.
Learn more in Notifications and Alarms.
Proximity Alerts
Use Proximity Alerts to enable Nearby Alerts and manage Android location access for location-based reminders.
2Do uses task locations to decide when a location alert should fire. Add locations from the task editor; then enable the notification setting here.
Learn more in Nearby and Locations.
Advanced
Advanced contains export, backup, date/time defaults, sounds, and diagnostics.
Export as CSV
Use Export as CSV to choose lists and share task data as a CSV file through Android's share sheet. You can export selected lists or all available lists.
Manage Backups
Use Manage Backups to create, restore, share, and configure backups.

Options include:
- Automatic backups — never, every 24 hours, or every 48 hours.
- Keep at most — 5, 10, 20, or 30 backups.
- Backup before performing Sync — create a safety copy before sync runs.
- Backup location — store backups in app storage or choose a folder through Android's folder picker.
- Backup Now and Restore Now — run manual backup and restore actions.
Restoring a backup replaces the current local data on this Android device. Share or create a fresh backup first if you might need to undo the restore.
Learn more in Backups.

- Timezone — choose a timezone and whether to use floating time.
- Week Starts — choose the first day of the week.
- Default Due Date — choose the default due date for new tasks.
