Nearby and Locations
Attach a place to a task to find work you can do there. Use Nearby to browse saved locations by distance, and enable proximity alerts if you want reminders when you arrive.
Adding a Location
Open a task and tap Locations in the editor. Select one or more saved places, or tap Create a new location to create one.
In the location editor:
- Search for a place or address with the search control, choose an address from Contacts, or tap a point on the map.
- Give the place a name.
- Tap Save.
You can reuse that place on other tasks. Editing a saved place changes the location used by every task attached to it.

The Nearby Tab
Open the utility panel and choose Nearby. On a wide layout, the panel can remain beside the task list.
The rows are saved places. Tap a row to filter your tasks by that location; tap it again to remove the filter. Select several places to find tasks attached to any of them. Touch and hold a place for Edit and Delete.
Use the controls at the bottom to:
- Show all saved places or only places used by the current task results.
- Turn the map on or off. With the map on and your location available, places are sorted by distance and show how far away they are.
- Adjust the nearby range with the slider. The range runs from 150 metres to 2 kilometres and is shown in your selected units.
The map marks the displayed locations and shows the nearby range around your current position. Selecting a location also centers the map on it. Tap + in the panel's toolbar to add another saved place.
Smart Lists for Errands
Use a search to collect location-based work:

Save the results as a Smart List. These queries match assigned places, not your live distance from them. Use the Nearby panel to see distances.
Proximity Alerts
Open Settings > Notifications > Proximity alerts and turn on Enable proximity alerts. Nearby reminders are a Pro feature, also available during the trial.
2Do can remind you after you arrive and remain near a saved place with unfinished tasks. It does not offer a separate departure alert. Completed tasks and tasks hidden by paused tags are left out.
The Status row shows whether alerts are on or need location permission. Tap Manage location access to grant access, or Open system settings to change Android's permissions for 2Do. On Android 10 and later, background location access is required for alerts when the app is not open. Choose Allow all the time when Android offers it.
Nearby browsing needs location access to show your current position and distances. Proximity alerts also need notifications to be allowed. Their timing depends on Android's location updates and background limits. See Notifications.
