Nearby and Locations

Tasks live in time and space. Attach a place to a task and 2Do becomes context-aware.

Adding a Location

Open a task and tap the Location field. Search by name or address, or choose a point on the map. Configure:

  • Alert on Arrive — fire when you enter the geofence.
  • Alert on Leave — fire when you exit.
note

Location alerts require Android location permission. 2Do asks for location access when you use a location-based feature, such as adding a location or enabling Nearby Alerts. You can manage this later from Settings > Notifications > Proximity Alerts or Android's app permissions.

The Nearby Tab

Open the Nearby tab from the side tab strip on phone-sized layouts. On tablets and wider windows, Nearby can appear in the side panel so the task list remains visible. You'll see:

  • A map with pins for every task with a location.
  • A list, sorted by distance from your current location.

Tap a pin or list row to open the editor. Long-press for the quick-actions menu.

Smart Lists for Errands

Build an Errands Nearby Smart List:

  • Has a location.
  • Is near your current location.
  • Is not completed.

When you sit down at your desk or pop to the high street, a tap reveals the right-now-doable subset.

Proximity Alerts

Open Settings > Notifications > Proximity Alerts to turn Nearby Alerts on or off and manage Android's location permission for 2Do.

note

Location data for Nearby Alerts is used on your device so 2Do can remind you near the places you attached to tasks.

Tips

tip

Tag location-tagged tasks with @errands. Combined with the Nearby tab and an Errands Nearby Smart List, you'll never wonder again whether there was something to grab from the hardware store.
