Natural Language Input
Type a task with its date or other details, and 2Do fills in the matching fields. For example, Buy milk tomorrow sets tomorrow as the due date and keeps Buy milk as the title.
Natural Language Input works in Quick Add and while creating a task in the Task Editor. It does not reinterpret the titles of existing tasks when you edit them.
Using It
- Open Quick Add or create a task in the Task Editor.
- Type the title with its details, such as a date, time, or tag.
- Review the highlighted phrases and the fields they fill in.
- Save the task. Recognized details are removed from the title and kept in their fields.
You can still set fields by hand. A manual change takes precedence over the corresponding detail detected in the title.
Details You Can Enter
2Do recognizes dates, times, start dates, alerts, repeats, durations, priorities, stars, tags, lists, and saved locations.
| Example | Result |
|---|---|
Buy milk tomorrow | Sets tomorrow as the due date |
Buy green paint on 12 October 2030 at 3pm !!! | Sets the due date and time, with high priority |
Buy fruit #groceries #weekend | Adds the tags groceries and weekend |
List and location names must match ones you have already saved. An unknown name stays in the title. Check the recognized details before saving, especially when the title includes a date that you intended as ordinary text.
Settings
Open Settings > Natural Language Input. The Quick Add and Task Editor switches are separate and both start on. Turn either off to enter all details manually in that editor.
Recognition follows the app’s language. It supports English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Dutch, Korean, Japanese, Russian, Czech, and Simplified Chinese. The settings are hidden for unsupported languages.
Natural Language Input uses local text parsing and does not require an AI account.
For how dates affect your task lists, see Dates and Durations.
