Android Integrations

2Do works with Android sharing, selected text, launcher shortcuts, Quick Settings, widgets, notifications, and backup files. These give you ways to capture a task or open a task view from outside the app.

Capture from Other Apps

1. Open the share command in the app containing the text, link, or image.
2. Choose 2Do from Android's share sheet.
3. Review the new task in the editor, add any details you need, and save it.

What arrives depends on what the other app shares:

• Text becomes the task title. Text longer than 300 characters goes into the notes, leaving you to add a short title.
• A web link with a page title uses the page title as the task title and keeps the URL as a Browse action.
• An image opens the editor with the image ready to attach.

Sharing is controlled by the sending app. A link without a separate title may arrive as plain text instead of a Browse action.

New tasks use 2Do's normal destination rules. See Default Collection List and The Task Editor.

Selected Text

In apps that support Android's text-processing menu, select text and choose 2Do from the selection menu. 2Do opens it as a new task for you to review and save.

The menu depends on Android and the source app. If 2Do is missing, use that app's normal share command instead.

Create Note Requests

2Do can receive Android's create-note request from compatible apps. It creates a task from the supplied text and shows which list received it. This route can save the task directly, so open 2Do afterward if you want to add dates, tags, or other details.

For dictation, open Quick Add or the task editor and use your keyboard's microphone button if it provides one.

Launcher Shortcuts

Touch and hold the 2Do app icon on a launcher that supports app shortcuts:

• New Task opens a new task in the editor.
• Today opens the Today Focus List.
• Starred opens the Starred Focus List.
• Search opens task search.

Your launcher decides how to display these shortcuts and whether you can pin them to the home screen.

Quick Settings Tile

Add 2Do's Quick Add tile to Android's Quick Settings panel:

1. Expand Quick Settings from the top of the screen.
2. Tap the edit or pencil button.
3. Move Quick Add into the active tiles.
4. Tap it whenever you want to capture a task.

Android asks you to unlock the device first when needed, then 2Do opens Quick Add. See Quick Add.

Sticky Alert

Turn on Settings > Notifications > Sticky alert to keep tasks from Today in the notification area. Android notification permission and system notification settings still apply.

Use Hide from lockscreen under Notifications > More... if you do not want the ongoing Today notification on the lock screen. See Notifications and Alarms.

Widgets

Add Task List or Transparent Task List to view a list, open tasks, mark them complete, and use + to add a task. 2Do Undone Counter shows a count from a chosen preset.

Calendar Events

With Pro, 2Do reads calendars available on your Android device and shows appointments above your tasks. Add to Calendar opens your calendar app with an event prepared from a task; you review and save it there.

Calendar access is separate from task sync. See Calendar Events.

Backup Files

Android can offer 2Do when you open a .2dobundle or older .2dobackup file from Files, email, or another app. Choose 2Do to begin the restore flow, then confirm only when you want to replace the current local data.

If Android does not offer 2Do, open Settings > Manage Backups > Restore from file… and select the file yourself.

important

A restore replaces this device's local task database. Create a backup of your current data and save a copy outside the app first. Android backups cannot be restored on iPhone, iPad, or Mac.
