Android Integrations

2Do for Android integrates with Android's sharing, text selection, launcher shortcuts, Quick Settings, widgets, notifications, and file-opening flows.

note

Android does not use the twodo:// URL scheme used by 2Do for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. On Android, use the system integrations below.

Capture from Other Apps

Use Android's share sheet when another app contains something you want to turn into a task.

  • Text — share selected text or a note into 2Do to create a task from that text.
  • Web links — share a URL into 2Do. When Android also provides a page title, 2Do can use the title for the task and keep the link as an Action.
  • Images — share an image into 2Do to create a task with that image attached.

If the shared text is long, 2Do keeps the extra detail in the task notes so the task title stays readable.

tip

When a web article, message, or photo needs follow-up, share it to 2Do immediately. You can add dates, tags, priority, and alerts after the task has been captured.

See Quick Add for fast capture and The Task Editor for adding task details.

Selected Text

Some Android apps let you select text and send it directly to another app from the text-selection menu. When 2Do appears there, choose 2Do to start a new task from the selected text.

note

Text-selection actions are controlled by Android and the app you're selecting text in. If 2Do does not appear in that menu, use the normal Android share sheet instead.

Create Note Requests

Android can send a "create note" request to compatible apps. When 2Do receives one, it opens the task editor with the note text ready to save as a task.

For everyday voice capture, you can also open Quick Add, tap the microphone button on your Android keyboard if your keyboard provides one, and dictate the task title.

Launcher Shortcuts

Long-press the 2Do app icon to use launcher shortcuts:

  • New Task — opens the editor for a new task.
  • Today — opens the Today Focus List.
  • Starred — opens the Starred Focus List.
  • Search — opens search so you can find tasks quickly.
note

Launcher shortcuts depend on your Android launcher. Most modern launchers support them, but the exact gesture and menu style can vary.

Quick Settings Tile

Add the 2Do Quick Add tile to Android's Quick Settings panel when you want capture available from the notification shade.

  1. Open Android's Quick Settings panel.
  2. Tap the edit or pencil button.
  3. Drag 2Do Quick Add into your active tiles.
  4. Tap the tile whenever you want to capture a task.

The Quick Settings tile opens Quick Add. It is different from home-screen widgets, which are for viewing lists and counts.

Sticky Alert

Sticky Alert can keep today's tasks visible in the notification drawer. It is useful when you want the current day visible without opening 2Do.

Enable it from Settings > Notifications > Sticky Alert. Notification display still depends on Android's notification permission and your system notification settings.

See Notifications and Alarms for the related notification options.

Widgets

2Do includes home-screen widgets for:

  • A chosen list, Focus List, Smart List, or saved view.
  • A transparent list widget for cleaner home-screen layouts.
  • A compact undone counter.

See Widgets for widget setup and privacy notes.

Backup Files

Android can offer 2Do as an app for opening 2Do backup files:

  • .2dobackup
  • .2dobundle

You may see this when opening a backup from Files, email, cloud storage, or another app. Choose 2Do to import or restore the backup.

important

Restoring a backup replaces the current local data on that Android device. If you're unsure, create and share a fresh backup first.

See Backups for backup settings, restore steps, and migration tips.
