Set Up iCloud Sync for Web

2Do for Web syncs with your own iCloud account using CloudKit. Your browser connects to Apple's service to read and update your task records. There is no separate 2Do sync account to create.

Create a Free iCloud Account

An Apple Account is free to create, including from an Android phone. You do not need a Mac to create one. Use that same account for iCloud sync in 2Do on Android and in your browser.

  1. Open account.apple.com and choose Create Your Apple Account.
  2. Enter your details and verify your email address and phone number. You can use an email address you already have. See Apple's account creation guide.
  3. In 2Do for Android, open Settings > Sync setup > Sync Method, choose iCloud, and tap Sign In to iCloud.
  4. Sign in on Apple's page, complete any account setup Apple requests, and let the first sync finish.
  5. Sign in to 2Do for Web with the same Apple Account. Follow the account screen to confirm your 2Do for Mac access.

For both Android and Web, sign in on Apple's page with your normal Apple Account password, or another sign-in option Apple offers. Do not use an app-specific password. You authenticate directly with Apple; your Apple Account password is not shared with 2Do.

Apple includes a free iCloud storage allowance. Creating the account does not require an iCloud+ subscription. Your 2Do purchases are separate: Android sync requires 2Do Pro after its full-featured trial, and Web requires active Mac update coverage or a qualifying active Mac App Store or Setapp subscription. See Android iCloud setup and Web licensing.

Choose the Same Sync Method

On every device, choose iCloud, not iCloud CalDAV. These are separate sync methods with separate data. Apple Reminders, Dropbox, Todoist, Toodledo, and other CalDAV services are not supported by the web app.

Use the setup guide for each device:

Use current versions of 2Do that offer this sync method. Older versions that only support iCloud CalDAV cannot sync with 2Do for Web.

First Sync

Before using the web app, set up iCloud sync in 2Do on a Mac, iPhone, iPad, or Android device and let it sync once. This creates the 2Do workspace that the web app opens. Android's full-featured trial includes sync and can complete this initial setup.

If you already sync 2Do through iCloud, let that device finish syncing. Then:

  1. Open 2Do for Web from the 2Do for Web page and choose Sign in to iCloud.
  2. Sign in on Apple's page with the same Apple Account as your other devices. Use your normal Apple Account password, not an app-specific password.
  3. Confirm your 2Do for Mac access. For a direct purchase, enter your Mac license key when asked. For Mac App Store or Setapp, first launch the subscribed Mac app online to refresh Web access. Choose Open 2Do when your account is ready.
  4. Keep the page open and online until the initial sync finishes.

If the web app shows Set up iCloud sync in 2Do, the account does not yet have a personal 2Do workspace it can open. Set up iCloud sync in a supported native 2Do app, let it sync once, then return to the browser and choose Check again. The web app does not import data from another sync service during sign-in.

Changing sync methods

Before moving from another service, keep a backup and follow your device's sync guide. A Replace choice can overwrite the data on one side. Do not choose it just to make missing tasks appear in the browser.

Day-to-Day Sync

Sync runs while the web app is open. To request a sync yourself, open the More menu and choose Sync Now. More > Manage Account shows your account and sync status, with a Sync now control.

Keep the page open until sync finishes before switching devices. A closed or suspended browser tab cannot keep syncing in the background. Avoid clearing site data while changes are waiting to sync, as that can remove the browser's only copy of those changes.

Shared Lists

Open More > iCloud Shared Lists… to see lists you share and lists shared with you. To join a list, paste its iCloud invitation link into Accept an Invitation, choose Open Invitation, then confirm Accept.

Shared task content is read-only in the web app. You can still set each shared list's name, color, order, and reminders for your own view. Use a supported native 2Do app to edit shared tasks or manage invitations and participants. The Mac sharing guide explains how list ownership and permissions work.

If Tasks Are Missing

Check the Apple Account, sync method, and last completed sync on the device that holds the tasks. See Why Are My Tasks Missing in 2Do for Web? for the steps.

Where Your Data Lives

Apple stores your synced task data in iCloud, and the browser keeps a local working copy. We do not host your task database. Attachment and large-note uploads use a transfer relay on their way to Apple; see the Web Privacy Policy for details.
