How do I set up 2Do on a new iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Android device?

Mac app first

Some sync capabilities mentioned here, such as Merge sync and Todoist, are currently available in 2Do for Mac and are coming to the iOS app in an upcoming update.

If you already use 2Do on at least one other device with sync enabled:

  1. Install 2Do on the new device and open it.

  2. Open Settings > Sync and pick the same sync method you've been using on your other devices.

  3. Sign in with the same account.

  4. On first sync, choose Replace local data — this pulls everything from the cloud down to the new device, leaving the cloud copy untouched. If the new device already has some unique tasks worth keeping, choose Merge sync instead (available for every method). If instead you've just restored from a backup and your device now has the freshest data:

  5. Set up sync the same way.

  6. On first sync, choose Replace server data — this pushes your restored data up, replacing whatever's currently in the cloud.

Syncing with Todoist or Apple Reminders?

Those methods don't offer Replace server data. After restoring from a backup, choose Merge sync on the restored device instead so its data flows outward without wiping the app's own store.

If you're unsure which side has the freshest data, create a backup first so you have a recovery point either way. On Mac, use 2Do > Settings > Backups (a backup's ⋯ menu > Save a Copy…). On iPhone, iPad, or Android, use the backup option in 2Do's settings. See: Sync overview (iOS), Sync overview (Mac), Sync overview (Android).
