Settings
2Do's settings are where you tune capture, sync, notifications, privacy, and app-wide behavior. Open them from the Settings button in 2Do.
This page follows the same order as the app's main settings screen and covers the functional settings only.

Email-to-2Do
Email-to-2Do connects 2Do to an IMAP email account and turns matching incoming messages into tasks. Captured emails stay in your mailbox, and 2Do can mark them as read or remove their flag when those account options are enabled.
Google email accounts require a separate approval process and are unavailable in Email-to-2Do.

Use this screen to:
- Add or edit an email account.
- Capture incoming messages from the account's INBOX.
- Pause or resume capturing for an account.
- Capture all emails, or capture only emails that match your rules.
- Match flagged emails, important emails, subject text, sender text, or recipient text.
- Decide whether all selected rules must match or whether any selected rule is enough.
- Apply tags automatically to captured tasks.
- Save the email body as notes, include sender details, add a URL action back to the original email, mark captured emails as read, or remove flags after capture.
- Choose the global fetch frequency for servers that do not keep a live connection open.
- Review server options such as Use CONDSTORE Extension, when supported by that account.
Email-to-2Do acts like an in-app mail client. Incoming messages are not sent to a 2Do server and are not saved locally as email messages. 2Do reads matching messages, creates tasks from them, and leaves the original emails in your mailbox. It can mark captured messages as read or remove their flag when those account options are enabled.
For a reliable setup, either use a dedicated mailbox or keep the rules narrow, such as subject begins with todo: or recipient contains a special alias. Do not configure the same mailbox on multiple devices.

Sync
Sync lets 2Do share your lists and tasks with your other devices.

Use this screen to:
- Choose a sync method: Dropbox, iCloud CalDAV, Toodledo, Yahoo Calendar, Fruux, or a custom CalDAV server.
- Sign in, unlink, or change the account for the selected sync method.
- Turn Automatic Sync on or off.
- Exclude selected lists from sync.
- Choose whether preferences and attachments sync, when the selected sync method supports them.
- Set the Next Sync Action. The available choices depend on the selected sync method: Dropbox and CalDAV use Sync normally, Replace server data, and Replace local data; Toodledo can also offer Merge sync.
Replace server data and Replace local data are recovery tools. Use them only when you are sure which side has the correct data. Replace local data overwrites this device from the server. Replace server data overwrites the server from this device.
Attachment options depend on the sync method. Dropbox is the best choice when you want the broadest attachment and task-property support across 2Do for iPhone and iPad, Mac, and Android.

Default Collection List
Default Collection List controls where new tasks go when 2Do cannot use the current list directly.

Use this screen to:
- Enable the GTD Inbox, which creates an Inbox list and uses it as the main collection list.
- Choose a default list, or leave it as Last Used.
- Use that default list when creating a task from Focus Lists or Quick Entry.
- Turn on Always Use Default List when every new top-level task should start in that default list, even if you are viewing another normal list.
- Turn on Always Use in Quick Add so Quick Add captures into the default list.
The default list is used for new tasks, except for child tasks created from inside Project View. Those stay inside the project or checklist you are editing.
If you capture a lot of quick thoughts, use the GTD Inbox with Always Use in Quick Add. Then review the Inbox later and move tasks into their real lists.
Learn more in Quick Add and Focus Lists.
Siri
Siri lets 2Do work with Siri and iOS Shortcuts.
Use this screen to:
- Enable Siri access for 2Do.
- Check the default list Siri will use.
- Open iOS settings when Siri permission needs to be changed.
- Manage Siri shortcuts saved from supported lists and searches.
Siri can add tasks and search for recently created tasks. For Siri capture into the Inbox, enable the GTD Inbox under Default Collection List.

Appearance
Appearance controls theme, row density, task visibility, date wording, sorting, and several display behaviors.

Theme, Display Mode, and Font Size

Use these settings to choose:
- Theme — Automatic, Always Dark, or Always Light.
- Display Mode — Compressed, Normal, or Extended task rows.
- Font Size — System Default, Tiny, Small, Normal, Big, or Large.
- Bolder Task Titles when you want task names to stand out more.

Display Mode is the setting version of Pinch-Zoom. You can still pinch a list to change its density quickly.
Completed Tasks

Show Completed controls how long completed tasks stay visible in lists. Choices range from never showing completed tasks to keeping them visible for minutes, hours, days, weeks, or a month.

Auto-delete Completed removes completed tasks after the chosen delay. You can also delay sub-task deletion so completed child items do not disappear too quickly from parent tasks.
Auto-delete is cleanup, not hiding. If you only want completed tasks out of sight, use Show Completed instead.
Today, Watch, and List Display

Use these settings to control:
- Which list appears in the Today widget and on Apple Watch.
- Whether full-width list colors are shown.
- Whether dates use friendly labels such as today and tomorrow.
- Whether starred tasks from lists excluded from Today can still appear in Today.
- Whether scheduled tasks with past start dates stay hidden unless due today.
Badge Today counts can include starred tasks depending on the Today-related Appearance settings. If the badge count looks higher than the visible Today list, check both Settings > Appearance and Settings > Notifications > Badge Count.

Sorting, Search, and Advanced Display

Use these settings to:
- Keep dated tasks grouped together or separated under date headings.
- Hide sub-tasks when their parent task is already visible.
- Control search behavior and saved-search display details.
Learn more in Search, Smart Lists, and Pinch-Zoom and Tap-and-Hold.
Language
Language changes 2Do's app language.

Select a language from the list. 2Do asks you to quit and restart the app before the language change fully applies.
Privacy
Privacy controls passcode protection, locked lists, hidden lists, and widget privacy.

Use this screen to:
- Set or remove an app passcode.
- Require the passcode for the whole app, or only for selected lists.
- Choose how soon 2Do asks for the passcode again: immediately, 1 minute, 3 minutes, 5 minutes, or 10 minutes.
- Use Face ID or Touch ID when the device supports it and iOS permission is enabled.
- Choose which lists are hidden or locked.
- Control whether widgets may display your tasks.

Widget privacy affects what can appear outside the app. If you keep private lists in 2Do, review this setting before adding home-screen or lock-screen widgets.
Learn more in Password Protection.
Notifications
Notifications controls badges, list counts, snooze, Nag Me, alert sounds, and automatic alerts.

Counters

Badge Count controls the number shown on the 2Do app icon. Options include All Items, Overdue, Today, Today + Tomorrow, High Priority, Starred, Next 3 Days, Next Week, Next Month, Next 6 Months, Next Year, and None.

List Count controls the counts shown beside list names. You can count overdue items, overdue plus undone items, or turn list counts off.
Notifications depend on iOS notification permission. If badges or alerts do not appear, check both 2Do > Settings > Notifications and iOS Settings > Notifications > 2Do.
Snooze, Nag Me, and Alert Sound

Snooze controls the default snooze interval used from notification actions.

Nag Me can repeat alert notifications until you view the task or mark it complete. Choices include Never, every 5 minutes, every 15 minutes, every 30 minutes, every hour, and every day.

Alert Sound chooses the sound 2Do uses for alert notifications.
Automatic Alerts

Automatic alerts can be created for new tasks with due dates or due times.

For due-time tasks, choose whether the alert fires at the due time or a selected amount of time before it.

For due-date tasks, choose a standard timing or create a custom automatic alert.

Learn more in Alerts and Nag Me.
Nearby
Nearby controls saved locations, nearby alerts, distance, and distance units.

Use this screen to:
- Manage saved locations.
- Turn Nearby Alerts on or off.
- Set the maximum nearby distance.
- Choose miles or kilometers.
Nearby Alerts depend on task locations and iOS Location permission. Add a location to a task first, then use Nearby settings to control how broadly 2Do watches for nearby tasks.
Learn more in Tags and Nearby.
Export
Export lets you choose lists and export their tasks.

If app privacy is enabled and 2Do is locked, Export asks you to unlock before showing list data. Use Export when you need a portable task list outside 2Do.
Backups
Backups creates and manages snapshots of your local 2Do database.

Use this screen to:
- Create a backup and share it by email or another share-sheet destination.
- Manage automatic backups.
- Create a backup immediately with Backup Now.
- Turn on Backup before performing Sync.
- Choose automatic backup frequency: none, every 24 hours, or every 48 hours.
- Keep at most 5, 10, 20, or 30 automatic backups.
Turn on Backup before performing Sync when you are setting up sync on a new device or changing sync methods. It gives you a local snapshot before data starts moving.
Learn more in Backups.
Advanced
Advanced contains app-wide defaults and safety options.

Use this screen to control:
- Week Starts — the first day of the week used by calendars and date views.
- Default Due Date — Same Day, Day After, 2 Days After, 3 Days After, 1 Week After, 2 Weeks After, or Next Month.
- Default Due Time — the time applied when a new task gets a due time by default.
- Default Start Time — the time applied when a new task gets a start time by default.
- Due Time can Overdue — controls whether timed tasks become overdue based on the due time or after the day changes.
- Prevent Device Sleep — keeps the device awake while 2Do is open.
- Landscape Orientation — allows or disables landscape rotation.

The second Advanced screen includes:
- Save to Camera Roll for photos created or exported from 2Do.
- Push Sync so changes on one device can prompt other devices to sync.
- Email Diagnostic Report for troubleshooting.
- Reset Warnings for app warnings you previously dismissed.
- Reset Application Data for wiping local data and starting fresh.
Reset Application Data removes local 2Do data from this device. Create an export or backup first if there is anything you may need later.
Customize date and time shortcuts if you repeatedly use the same times, such as 9 AM for work tasks or 6 PM for errands. Those shortcuts appear in the task editor and make date entry faster.
