The Mini Calendar

The mini calendar is a compact month view for your tasks. It shows which days are busy, filters the task list to a day or a range of days, and takes a dragged task to reschedule it. It is about 2Do's own dates, not about your Apple Calendar events; for those, see Calendar Events.

Where It Lives

  • iPhone: tap the calendar button at the bottom of the source panel. The calendar opens as a drawer over your tasks, with a close control in the corner of its header. It needs a certain amount of vertical room, so it does not open in a very short window.
  • iPad: the mini calendar is part of the pane beside your tasks and stays where it is. There is no close control, because there is nothing to close.

Moving Through the Months

Use the arrows either side of the month name to step a month at a time. Tap the month name itself to come back to the month that holds today.

Busy Days

The calendar marks every day that has tasks on it, so you can see where work is stacking up before you pick a date. A task counts toward its due day when it has a due date, and toward its start day when a start date is all it has.

Choose how those days are marked under Settings > Appearance > Busy Days > Mini Calendar:

  • Heat Map: a tint behind the date that deepens as the number of tasks rises.
  • Dots: small dots under the date, more dots for a busier day.
  • None: no markings at all.

Each calendar surface in 2Do keeps its own style, so the mini calendar, the editor's date pickers, and the Calendar Day Bar can each be set differently.

Filter to One Day

Tap a day and the task list narrows to the tasks on that date. Tap the selected day again to clear the filter and go back to the whole list.

This works whichever list you are in: All, Today, a regular list, or a Smart List.

Filter to a Range of Days

Touch and drag across several days to select an inclusive range, and the task list narrows to that span. Drag from Monday to Friday to see the working week, or across the weekend to plan errands.

To clear a range, tap any day inside it.

tip

Combine a date range with a tag filter from the Tags page for a view such as "everything tagged @shop between Friday and Sunday".

Defer a Task by Dragging

Drag a task from the list onto a date in the mini calendar and its due date moves to that day. The day under your finger highlights as you go, so you can see where the task will land before you let go.

This is the quickest way to reschedule while reviewing a list, and it needs no editor.

Clearing the Filter

If the task list looks shorter than you expected, the mini calendar may still be filtering it. Tap the selected day, or any day inside a selected range, to clear it.

Tips

tip

If you only want to look ahead rather than reschedule, filter to the day first. If a task then belongs somewhere else, drag it onto the day you want.
