2Do vs Apple Reminders

2Do syncs two-way with Apple Reminders, so you can use both apps. Reminders is free and works with Siri, Apple Watch, CarPlay, and HomePod. 2Do adds more options for organizing tasks, scheduling work, and setting alarms. Connect them to manage tasks from your synced Reminders lists in either app.

Task Sections and Apple Intelligence​

On Mac, iPhone, and iPad, divide a regular list or the Inbox into named sections, such as Bookings and Packing in a trip list. Arrange sections in the order you want; tasks within each section follow the list's sort.

Auto-Create Sections uses Apple Intelligence to organize selected unfinished tasks or all unfinished, unsectioned tasks in a list. It reuses suitable existing sections and creates new ones where needed. Auto-Name Section names an existing section from its task titles. Both commands run on your device; organizing tasks also considers existing section names. They require a supported Mac, iPhone, or iPad running macOS 26, iOS 26, or iPadOS 26 or later, with Apple Intelligence enabled. See sections and Apple Intelligence.

2Do also uses Apple Intelligence to set priorities for selected tasks with Auto-Prioritize, available on Mac and iPhone and iPad under the same device and OS requirements.

Apple Reminders also uses Apple Intelligence to group related tasks into sections with Auto-Categorize. In 2Do, you can organize a task selection or the list's unsectioned tasks, and name an existing section separately. Sections do not sync between 2Do and Reminders, even though both apps support them.

Where Apple Reminders May Be Better​

• It's free and available across Apple devices, including Apple Watch, CarPlay, HomePod, and Vision Pro, and through iCloud.com in a browser.
• You can add reminders with Siri across Apple devices.
• Shared iCloud lists let household members add tasks and assign reminders to each other.
• Grocery lists sort themselves into categories as you type.
• The column (board) view shows a list's sections side by side.
• List templates let you reuse a packing list or routine without copying it by hand.

Where 2Do May Be Better​

• Set start dates and times as well as due dates. Task durations help show when to begin before a deadline, and Smart Scheduling can hide tasks until their start date.
• Repeating tasks can repeat from completion or from the schedule, stop after a set number of occurrences, and keep the interval between their start and due dates. You can also edit individual occurrences.
• You can set several alarms on one task, with repeat sounds that keep going until you act, 2Do's own alarm window, and per-list silencing.
• Find tasks with Smart Lists that use a full search syntax, typo-tolerant search, a dozen per-list sort options, a one-click Focus Filter, and tag filtering with AND / OR / NOT.
• Attach a Call, Message, Email, Visit, or Browse action to a task and run it with one click, or the P key.
• Notes support Markdown and links to related tasks, and you can attach audio recordings as well as pictures.
• You can export lists as .ics or .csv, back up locally and restore individual lists, and protect lists with a password and Touch ID. Reminders offers no structured export.
• Choose your sync service: Dropbox, iCloud CalDAV, CalDAV, Reminders itself, Todoist, or Toodledo, and 2Do also runs on Android.
• Mac automation is covered by AppleScript, Shortcuts, and a built-in MCP server for Claude and other AI agents.
• You can keep using Siri through Reminders sync while planning in 2Do. 2Do also supports Siri directly on Mac, iPhone, and iPad.
